My Encounter with an art SCAM

It seems artists are more and more becoming targeted by Internet scammers. If we aren't careful we could lose hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars. Recently I came close to being a scam victim, but with some healthy paranoia and a bit of research I prevented my bank account from taking a hit. The following is the story of my encounter and how I discovered it was a scam.

I had a similar experience a few years ago. I was skeptical, so I looked on snopes.com and found a write up of the scam.

I received this yesterday, this is another example of a common scam:

From: robert vecellio <[email protected]>
Sent: Wednesday, August 25, 2021, 01:03:43 PM CDT
Subject: Artwork For Sale.

Good day, hope you're doing fine.
I've been on the lookout for some artwork to purchase lately regarding our anniversary then saw your profile online.
I wanna know if you do have any art or sculpture for immediate (or close to immediate) sales.
I would love to get a surprise gift for my wife and equally I would appreciate it if you could send me some of your work with their respective sizes/prices.
