Artists of the Month:
Neelu Amar Jamindar
Neelu Amar started painting In Kindergarten, since then Art has been her passion in life. She grew up in India and her artwork shows the influence of Indian culture. The use of bright & bold color palette is her creative style, and her work shows and expresses a sense of human emotions & feelings.
Art Is like therapy to her, a meditative process that encourages creativity and self-expression as vehicles to reduce stress, improve self-esteem, and increase awareness. In fact, she believes most of the exercises rely not on the final product you create but on the therapeutic, meditative ritual of the creative process.

Joyce Stephen
After many years in the corporate world of high tech as a software engineer and later in real estate I'm now able to spend time every day on my art.
My painting style is intuitive, I seldom have a theme or subject in mind. I use experimentation and a playful ‘go with the flow’ attitude in my work. I love the interaction and vibration of colors and hope to provide a burst of color and motion. Each stroke influences the next and then the next until the artwork informs a direction and a pleasant balance is reached.
Often bits of found objects, book pages, house plans, sewing patterns and hand-made papers find their way into my many mixed media layers, My goal is to provide a visual interaction and simple enjoyment.

Anca Thomas
I was born in Romania, and fell in love with paintings, and colors at an early age.
I started out doing abstract paint, watercolors, and combination with tempera.
I earned my degree in engineering, and architecture, at the University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, in Bucharest, I moved to Dallas, Texas in 1995, to reunite with my husband. After this big change, to adapt and fit in a new world, my art was on the back burner for about 34 years. All that time, I looked forward to the day I can start painting again. I imagined myself ( many times ) in the front of white canvas, and having time to create.
I worked in finance field, full time, for about 22 years, in Dallas area, and I retired late 2018. I start to paint almost immediately, mostly acrylic, and I also designed jewelry. My husband and my son encouraged me, and always admired my talent, and my excellent gift for colors.
I always believed that is never too late to pursue your dreams, believe in yourself, be confident, and walk the walk, rather than just talking the talk.

After retiring I thought I would renew my creative interests. I love color and motion and try to express it in my art. The process can be arduous but is always rewarding. Perhaps the best part, is enjoying the creativity and stimulation of my fellow artists.

I am primarily an intuitive abstract acrylic painter. I often let a painting evolve as I lay down the paint, using my imagination to define the final product.
Every painting I create is a new adventure and learning experience. I enjoy experimenting with shapes and colors and exploring new avenues and ideas as each painting I create progresses. I find covering a canvas with paint to be the perfect creative outlet.

Veronica Ortegon-Primeaux
I have BFA from Texas A&I University and greatly enjoyed the Fine Arts Program which allowed me to create art in paintings, ceramics, photography, printmaking and sculpture. Since graduation I have worked in numerous creative fields including advertising, art education, and as a graphic designer producing publications, posters, and web graphics. For my own creative outlet, I work with photography, digital art, oils on canvas, and watercolor.

Paleoindians made their home in rock shelters or on bluffs. Their shadows and stories are still here. Mythological stories describe how humans first came to a place. Even the earliest arrivals were preceded by the spirits that formed the rocks and springs, clothed the earth in trees and grasses and invited the animals to live there. Humans made the place their home, found all they needed, and filled the earth with their origin stories.

Ideas guide my work as I sculpt copper through thoughts of the world around me. The natural world takes up a substantial amount of my work. I like to play with common themes and twist them around in order to give them new meaning. I compose my work using a torch and variety of hammers and chisels to bring images to life. The process is finished with various chemicals and clear coated so my pieces can be hung indoors or out. Some are meant to hang while some are meant to stand free. All are meant to be.

Eva Sim-Zabka
Eva Sim-Zabka is an expressive abstract painter who creates contemporary art in acrylics and mixed media. She is known for her large canvases filled with spontaneous, fresh, colorful art with a lot of texture. She paints intuitively and allows herself to experiment a lot during the creative process. Her art evokes emotions. Viewers are fascinated by bright colors and vibrant energy. As a formal psychologist Eva Sim-Zabka was always interested in creative self-expression. Art seemed to be a perfect playground for her to continue the journey.

Photography is the basis for my work, but the digital post-processing gives me the liberty to make an image into something unexpected. By using unique coloring, multiple exposures, blurring, or myriad other methods, my work transcends the ordinary.
To make a bold statement, for example, I photograph simple paper collages and create composites which are formed by using several layers of images rotated and flipped. Upon close inspection, all the layers are visible, yet a brand new abstraction surfaces which has a personality like no other.
The results are fresh, the work is contemporary, and it leaves me feeling excited to do it over and over and over again.

Our volunteer exhibit coordinators:
Martha Kull
I really like painting, drawing, and creating visual art. I love experimenting with different mediums and styles. Many of my favorite childhood memories involve drawing and painting and pretending to be an artist, fashion designer, or architect. My favorite art subjects are sunsets, seascapes, and trees – I enjoy trying to capture “the beauty that is in all of nature” in my art work. But there are many other subject areas that capture my attention, so I also dabble in other landscapes, still lifes, collages, and anything else that strikes my fancy. For additional information, please visit my website at www.facebook.com/martha.kull.9.
Joyce LaBaw
I began painting after three decades of working as an engineer (both Martha and I are retired IBM engineers!). My work includes acrylic abstracts, landscapes and portraiture. I often draw inspiration from local Texas scenery and strive to capture beauty that is compelling and resonates with the viewer. I love bright colors, layers and texture. I am very fortunate to have the opportunity to create, explore and show my art. For additional information, please visit my website at www.joycelabaw.com.
